1980 Yamaha XS1100SG Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project
This well-respected, Tax & MOT exempt 1980 Yamaha XS1100SG has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 8077 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
As you can see this bike looks to be complete. It has stood a while, so the battery is flat, paintwork is faded, tyres are perished, brake master cylinders are not working & carburettors are stuck. Sadly, the rocker cover is damaged on the front l/h top corner.
The wheels look straight with nice clean alloy. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Taillight assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look good. Paintwork is slightly faded but solid, fuel tank is useably clean inside. Exhausts are original & solid but dented. Seat base is in good condition throughout. Indicators are tidy.
We have had the engine firing/running on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention.
