1974 Yamaha TX500A Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project
This well presented, tax and MOT exempt 1974 Yamaha TX500A has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours.
As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – mirrors, light toggle off the LH switch hub and the battery. There are a few light marks in the paint and some stains on the silencers but otherwise this bike is very clean indeed.
The wheels are straight with clean chrome rims and working brakes. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and bowl. Instruments look ok and remaining switches move freely. The throttle is loose and carbs aren't turning off the grip. The paintwork has a few marks but is otherwise quite bright, fuel tank looks clean inside but there are a few rust scabs. The seat base is in good condition throughout. The indicators are tidy. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are straight and bright. The standard exhaust is solid.
The engine is cosmetically clean. We have had it firing/running & revving on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention.
