1976 Yamaha RD400C Unregistered US Import STUNNING Classic Restoration Project
This well-respected and much sought after 1976 Yamaha RD400C has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 24481 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – main stand being the most obvious. There are a few marks in the otherwise bright paint, decals have started to peel and there is a dent in the back of the tachometer.
This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures from 47 years ago & it is every bit as nice as it looks here.....A true time warp machine!
The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy but only the front brake is working. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and bowl but the rim has a small dent. Instruments look ok and switches move freely. The carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. The paintwork has a few marks but is otherwise bright, fuel tank is useably clean inside. The seat base is in good condition throughout. The indicators are tidy. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are staright and solid. The standard exhaust is solid but the silencers have a few marks.
The engine is cosmetically clean. BUT BEST OF ALL when we hooked it up to a good battery and fed it some fresh fuel we had it firing/running & revving.
