1980 Yamaha XT500 Unregistered US Import Classic Restoration Project

This well-respected and much sought after 1980 Yamaha XT500 has recently been imported from North America where its spent all of its life. As you can see its got a few bits missing; mirrors, clutch cable, indicators, clocks and seat bolts being the most obvious. Its got a few bits non-standard but they are in good condition. We noted that; there is a crack in the front mudguard and a shallow dent in the RH side of the tank. As you may have noticed the bike does not have a matching frame and engine number, the engine is out of a bike of the following year. This swap took place before importation. The wheels look straight with clean alloy rims but there does appear to have been a few spots welded on the rear wheel. The forks look straight but gators are perished. Headlight looks good but the rim is pitted. Tailight is all good. Switches all move freely. Exhaust feels solid and looks tidy. Tank looks useably clean inside and feels solid underneath. The carb is feel sliding off the twist grip. When we fed it some fresh fuel directly to the carb we had it firing, running and revving on fuel.We are selling this bike as a trade clearance project so make us an offer and get started!
