1978 Honda CB400A Hondamatic Unregistered US Import Classic Restoration Project VIN: CB400A2055562 Stock No: 97060 This well-respected, and very much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1978 Honda CB400A Hondamatic has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life
This and the fact it's only showing 6826 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time have helped maintain its boyish good looks
While it looks entirely plausible, we have been unable to confirm this mileage reading

As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Mirrors, Honda badge from bottom yoke, front indicators & fuel cap being the most obvious
It has stood a while, so the battery is flat, tyres & seat cover are perished, master cylinder is not working
Sadly, the bulk of the bright chrome is lightly pitted
BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS

The wheels look straight with nice clean alloy rims, good hubs & brake plate, disc & caliper
Forks & yokes look straight
Mudguards are both solid
Taillight assy is good as are the headlight hangers
Instruments & switches look good
Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip
Paintwork is solid, fuel tank is useably clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint
Exhausts are original & appear to be solid
Seat base feels solid
Chain guard is tidy as is the grab rail
The engine is cosmetically clean
We have had it firing/running on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention
