1973 Norton 850 Commando Unregistered US Import Classic Restoration Project VIN: 303859 Stock No: 97836 This well-respected, and very much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1973 Norton 850 Commando with good matching numbers has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life
This and the fact it's only showing 9852 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time have helped maintain its boyish good looks

As you can see this bike is remarkably original & nearly complete missing its mirrors
It has stood a while, so the battery is flat, tyres & peg rubbers are perished, master cylinder is not working, carburettors are stuck
Sadly, a spider has taken up residence in the speedometer
BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS

The wheels look straight with clean chrome
Forks & yokes look straight
Mudguards are both solid & are tidy
Taillight assy is good as are the headlight & hangers but bowl & rim are pitted
Paintwork is solid, fuel tank is useably clean inside
Exhausts are solid
Seat is in good condition throughout
The engine is cosmetically clean, it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great & has compression - when we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it fresh fuel, gave it a few prods it fires, starts, runs & revs but it is obvious the carbs need attention
